Hello #Cravers! Ashley and I are well on our way to having a site full of reviews and content! There is always something new and exciting happening with each new post. This post is no different in terms of excitement but is a bit different in my writing technique. For this post in particular, I am dictating to a Google Drive document as I finish up the 17 hour drive from New Mexico back to San Francisco. I spent a few days down there with my family for my younger brother’s high school graduation. I couldn’t quite focus on my audio-book anymore and decided this would be a fun way to spend a long boring stretch by five. Now obviously by the time you all read this and is heavily edited as Siri can never quite understand what I’m trying to say (apparently my New England accent is just a little bit too much for her to understand). If you want to see what Siri thought I was trying to say, I will add a link to the bottom of this post for you to read, it is quite funny! Now on to the review for me!
This month Ashley was craving a salad from a place called SweetGreens, the one she goes to is right next to her new office so she goes frequently but really wanted to share the awesome food with me and all of you. Same as last month I am writing the majority of this post but Ashley will throw her two cents in a little bit later. Along with it going to SweetGreens we also went to Safeway, I had a fully booked schedule but still needed to do some grocery shopping for my 17 hour drive down to Las Cruces New Mexico where I was meeting my family. When you travel by yourself and your dog we definitely need to have plenty of food for the trip and making unnecessary stops at fast food places is not ideal when your dog starts crying every time the car slowed down. So dinner and shopping is our usual, it was just a slightly different kind of shopping.
Before Ashley and I met up for dinner I pulled up their menu online and studied extensively (as I usually do). I was debating between a build your own and one of their seasonal specialty salads. They had so many options and some of them are quite unique. By the time we met up at the restaurant I had opted to build my own. I went with warm wild rice and chopped kale as the base I added on corn, raw beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, chicken, tortilla chips and burrata cheese. For dressing I opted for just a fresh squeeze of lime juice to keep it on the lighter side I knew the salad would be incredibly flavorful. This place is great for a healthy, on-the-go work lunch or dinner. They did have sit down seating but you could tell that this is definitely a place that was less dine-in and more take-out. The young girl behind the counter that helped me was a bit annoyed that I chose to build my own salad rather than just choosing one of the specialty salads they offer. She may have been at the end of her shift and I can totally understand that, but actually making the salad was a bit of a letdown. I cannot say the same for the actual salad though! The salad was so good I cannot wait to go back. It was a very large, very filling, and very tasty! I am definitely a little biased as it was a build your own so they were all things that I was guaranteed to like, but the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, which is key for a good salad. SweetGreens was very good and I definitely recommend it.

After we ate, we scooted over to Safeway as Ashley graciously agreed to run errands with me. I just needed a few things for lunch, snacks and drinks because, really what is a road trip without snacks? We also decided to get some Safeway cupcakes for ourselves for dessert. I know I know, I know what you’re thinking, we are professional bakers why would we ever eat Safeway cupcakes? You know what? Sometimes you just need a Safeway cupcake. Chocolate cupcake, fluffy chocolate frosting full of sugar absolutely disgusting and delicious all at the same time. We got a little mini 12 pack found they were perfectly satisfying. Sorry if I seemed like I was rambling and my review was super long (you don't realize how much you have to say until you are saying it all out loud). Since Ashley chose the restaurant for May she definitely needs to give some input on her meal. So here she is...
SweetGreens is my FAVE salad place. I ordered the Kale Cesar this time and it was quite delicious! Roasted chicken, shaved Parmesan, tomatoes, croutons, parmesan crisps, kale and chopped romaine, topped with a squeeze of Lime Juice and Cesar dressing! And the sliced bread was so yummy! I didn’t opt for a housemade drink so I just got water. Overall, super happy that I was able to share this wonderful restaurant with my Besty! As for dessert, the dangerously satisfying mini cupcakes hit the spot for sure! I could’ve eaten the whole pack if I wasn’t so full!
Well #Cravers, I think it’s safe to say you should definitely check out SweetGreens! Come back later this month to see what we are up to for June.
